Everyone wants to unravel the secrets of happiness. No one likes the idea of endlessly sulking in pain and sorrow. There’s a reason why our lives are fraught with negativity.
If we learn to understand ourselves and see the realities of the world from a different light, there’s a possibility that we can live a happy, positive life.
Here are some rules that should always be followed to imbue your life with positivity.
Accept and Love yourself
It’s perfectly fine to have imperfections. No one in this world was born flawless.
If you stand in front of the mirror and refuse to accept your reflection, you’re going to veer away from the path of happiness.
You’re going to give birth to a string of insecurities that are going to make your life hell in the foreseeable future. They’re going to destroy your self-esteem and inflict a fatal blow to your confidence.
If you don’t learn to accept and love yourself, this venom of self-hatred will spread to the other aspects of your life, such as relationships and careers.
You can’t truly love another person without mental constraints if you are not comfortable in your own skin.
Your inner hatred is always going to hold you back from fully indulging in the demanding act of love.
Stay away from people who always make you feel like you’re not worth it, who are always consciously or subconsciously hell-bent on trying to bring you down.
Prove yourself that you deserve better than them.
Refrain from Comparison
Don’t compare yourself with others. Celebrate your originality and uniqueness. These are things that make you stand out in a crowd.
They separate you from the herd. If you keep on comparing yourself to people who are entirely different from you, you’re going to form a veneer of banality that is going to transform you into a person you will most certainly start to loathe.
Feeling content with what you have is the greatest blessing. It will never make you feel needy or mentally distraught. You’ll only learn to feel thankful for the blessings you already have in your life.
Learn to let go
You have to learn to let go in life, because at the end of the day you lose everything, from parents to possessions to other earthly belongings.
If your mind is stuck on the loss of one thing, and it persists in that state of mourning, you are never going to move forward and advance towards other positive things that are there for the taking.
For all the things you lose, there are countless things that you can attain. But that can only happen if you learn to leave behind the remnants of your past.
Embrace the NOW
The past and the future do not exist. We try to create them inside our heads because the present does not provide us with a sense of security.
We feel the need to control the next moment so that it doesn’t endanger our NOW. This need is what takes the fun out of the present.
We can’t control the past and the future, but we can make our present a momentous occasion. We need to understand that if we want to live a happy, positive life.
